The most common method of controlling the movement of vehicles, or access control, is by using automatic barriers.

Barriers can be controlled by a variety of methods depending on site conditions and the type of vehicles involved.

The most basic method of opening any barrier is with a key latch or push button control located within a security building. Other methods include pass cards, key fobs, long range readers and pin pads.

A site visit is usually required to determine the size and location of barrier to be installed and how the barrier is to be opened and closed, either by manned presence or by the driver.

Where automatic closure of the barrier is required, an inductive loop is the preferred method of vehicle detection. This involves saw cutting into the road surface and winding in special loop cable which is made good usually with bitmac tar.

APS Ltd only install barriers supplied by reliable and proven access control barrier manufacturers.
