In 2006, APS Ltd were awarded the contract to install the Skidata Pay on Foot system throughout the hospital car parks.
Cork University Hospital is the largest university teaching hospital in Ireland employing 3,500 staff. The hospital has undergone much structural change since 2007 with the construction of new maternity, cardiac /renal buildings.
Special Features integrated with Skidata Pay on Foot system
|Use of Hospital Local Area Network|
Cabling costs were reduced considerably as a large percentage of the Skidata system devices were linked back to central control via the hospital LAN
|Commend Intercom System|
Voice over IP installed using hospital LAN connections on all campuses to allow clear voice communication between the control rooms and all parking equipment.
|Mifare Smartcard integration|
An important requirement within the original tender was for staff to be able to utilise the existing Mifare smart cards that they were using for a cashless vending application throughout the staff car parks.
|Contactless column at Renal Unit|
This column that can read Skidata proximity Key Cards and Mifare smart cards is used to give access for certain patients who are required to attend the Renal Unit frequently.
|Variable Message Signs|
A large 3 line VMS sign was installed and integrated with the Skidata system to provide the public with SPACES or FULL information on the 3 public car parks, thereby improving traffic flow and reducing congestion.
